1. Hello Pat! Can you tell us some information about your person, your blog and what you are doing?
Sure Oliver. My name is Pat Flynn. I’m 26-years old, married, and I live in US in the State of California. I have two different blogs at this time: one that earns me my full-time income, and the other which talks about how I created my first blog.

The first blog is at intheleed.com, and it helps people learn about the LEED exam. It’s an exam that people in the building industry take in order to learn about Green and Sustainable Buildings and Design. As you can see, this is a very specialized niche, probably one you’ve never heard of, yet I am still able to generate a full-time income by helping people understand the exam.

My second blog is at SmartPassiveIncome.com. Here, I talk about how I created my first blog and the products that go along with it, as well as marketing strategies and other fun stuff like that.
I guess you can say, I’m really into helping people – that’s my main goal. With both blogs, I give people information that would be useful for them and their careers and lives.

2. How did you get into blogging and when did you start? Approximately how many visitors do you get to your blog each day?
I started blogging when I was in College. Back then, it was mainly to tell people what I was doing each day, or post pictures of random fun things I’d be, but it was nothing serious. That was my first experience with blogging.
I started my blog at intheleed.com not knowing that it could possibily make money for me. I did learn this eventually, so I made some changes and was able to start generating a few dollars here and there right from the start. Then, after doing some more research, I was finally able to earn thousands of dollars a month.
At intheleed.com, I get about 5,000 visitors each day. At SmartPassiveIncome.com, it’s about 500 a day (it’s still fairly new).

3. What advice would you give to new blogger wanting to start making an income from blogging?
My advice is that you should write about what you know. So often I see people start up blogs who don’t really know what they are talking about, but they do it because they saw someone else do it and succeed. Write about what you’re passionate about, and it will be so much easier. Find other people who are passionate about the same thing, and start a community at your blog, that is the way to go. As far as making money, it will take some time and hard work. Don’t give up though, with time you will start to see money from your work.

4. What is the best advice you have been given to someone? Have you made any mistakes?
I think the best advice I’ve ever given anyone was specifically for those people who don’t have any blog or internet presence yet. My advice is to just do it! Don’t be scared! You’re not going to succeed unless you give yourself a chance.

5. How important is twitter for you and your blog? Which other social websites did you use?
I just recently started using twitter as another way to connect with readers. It’s a great way to stay personal and keep people interested in what you’re doing, and when you have a new blog post, it’s really easy to get people to read it. I say it’s a great tool, but if I didn’t have twitter it wouldn’t be the end of the world.
I also use facebook and myspace, but only for personal uses.

6. What keeps you motivating to blog?
My biggest motivator for me is my family, and the opportunity that blogging gives me to spend more time with my family and stay at home.

Also, being able to reach hundreds and thousands of people, and help them on in their lives is also very inspiring and keeps me wanting to blog each day.

7. You have been earning many thousands of dollars from your blog. What are the main ways for this income?
My main source of income is via an eBook and an audio guide that goes along with it. I created these for in my intheleed.com website as another way to help people understand the material better.

8. Last month there was a difference of $11,329.12 in comparison to the month before. What was the reason for this difference? What did you thought about this?
The reason was because registration of the exam was closing the previous month, so there was a horede of people trying to get material for the exam before the deadline. The previous month was my record month, that I new wasn’t going to bet the same the next month. Knowing what is happening in your industry can help you forecast your income. Because I knew this was happening, I wasn’t worried at all. I expected it.

9. You have released an iphone app last month. How successful was the release?
The release of iPopit!, our first iPhone application, was just okay. It’s tough because there are so many other iPhone applications out there, it’s really difficult to get noticed. We are looking into hiring someone to help us market our products in the future.

10. Have you got other projects? Have you any plans for the future that you can share with us?
Right now, I’m just focusing on my website at intheleed.com, the blog at smartpassiveincome.com, and iphone applications. I think that’s plenty to keep me busy fort he rest of the year. I do want to create similar websites in the future, hoping it will do the same for me and I can earn more income later, but we’ll see.
Thanks for your wonderful questions, I hope they will be useful for you and your readers. Have a good day!

Thank you very much for the interview!
